Bay Women Association Network (BAWAN) is south west state of Somalia based non-profit making, non-partisan NGO which has been operational in southwest state of Somalia since 2018. BAWAN follows a two-pronged program, namely the socio-economic and socio-political empowerment .

BAWAN is registered in 2018 by the Ministry of Interior a Somali women’s rights organization to empower women and girls and advocate for their rights.

BAWAN is managed by a team of experienced independent and non-partisan indigenous professionals whom have technical and practical knowledge in community development work and have undergone numerous local capacity building trainings in the humanitarian sector.

BAWAN Somalia was founded by local professionals in partnership with Somali women in the diaspora with a view to protect the rights of women, respond to humanitarian crises, initiate development and capacity buildings using rights based and participatory approaches at all the levels of the community.

BAWAN works with grassroots community people to tackle societal problems and with more specific focus on youth, women, IDPs and poor rural community to eradicate poverty and attain the necessary human rights standards. We partner with the community, development agencies, the private sector, the government and other organizations with similar objectives.
